Welcome to The Climbing Place

Since January 1, 1995, when we first opened our doors to the public, our 18,000 square foot climbing surface facility is the largest indoor rock climbing center in North Carolina. It offers over 40,000 climbing holds, 60 top ropes, a massive overhang area, a 300 foot gym traverse and thousands of square feet of bouldering surface as well as a top-out boulder. And, it even has a retail store to meet all your climbing and backpacking needs.

We strive to provide everyone a safe and rewarding experience in climbing whether indoors or outdoors from the beginner to the advanced. We ensure that climbing not only produces physical rewards but also challenges the climber's skills in the areas of confidence, problem solving and perserverance necessary for a successful and meaningful life. Finally, our mission at The Climbing Place is to make climbing a fun and wholesome activity for the entire family to enjoy.

New eWaiver System2010-03-05 16:23:32

We have been getting alot of questions about out new eWaiver system and how it is being implemented for youth under 18.  If you are not part of a group like a birthday party we ask that the parent comes in with the child so they can legally sign the new eWaiver system.

Until April 1st however, we are allowing the paper system to stay in place to give everyone time to get signed into the eWaiver system.  If you are under 18 and already have a paper waiver on file, you have until April 1sat to get your parent in here to get you signed into the new eWaiver system.  Like always though, if you have any other questions please let us know and we will be happy to answer them for you.

New System Working Well2010-03-03 08:19:32

The new electronic waiver system is running very well.  Everyone make sure if you have been to the gym in the past and have not filled out the eWaiver to do so.  Remember, once you fill out the eWaiver you will need to sign a log book at the gym to verify your information as correct.  I would also like to recommend everyone to bring their belay cards and/or membership cards so we can annotate them on the membership.

Facebook Fan Page2010-03-01 20:17:07
If you want to see what our facility looks like, see outdoor pictures of our trips, or check out our new climbing holds we get in, then click out facebook fan page link on the top right of the website.  You don't have to be a member to see the page photos or videos, but we would love to see our fan base grow.  So take some time to check us out and grab another means on commenting about us and showing some love to your favorite climbing gym.
Grand Reopening2010-03-01 08:09:57

Welcome to the grand reopening of The Climbing Place's new website.  You can now go fill out your eWaiver and check out all our info including the outdoor trips and technique class information.  Be sure you read the eWaiver system in detail before filing one out as you will have to also sign a log book when you come to the gym to authenticate that information.  We will be using the old waiver system as well for the next month, but keep in mind if you are under 18 you will NOT be allowed to sign for your information.
